The Accounting Group is responsible for all accounting related matters including purchasing of equipment and payment to vendors. Other functions under accounting include annual financial audit, public auction, annual bid proposals, and other administrative operations.
The Investigations Division, led by Assistant Fire Chief Rodney Janczak (#4), is primarily tasked with the determination of the origin and cause of fires within the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department response area. The Division works closely with the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office when a criminal act is suspected. Proper investigation and documentation of the origin and cause may facilitate claim settlement by an insurance carrier. This is often known as ‘Arson Investigation’ in common speaking circles, but entails much more than what one sees on television.
Public Safety Systems/CERT Team
The Public Safety Systems Division’s vision is to ensure that the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department has a defined plan for the continuous review of Public Safety Systems with a forward vision for technology improvements that will assist our members in providing responsive services and quality information in emergent and crisis situations. The CFVFD works closely with the Harris County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) to ensure that the community can be cared for in a variety of unique ways. It believes the continued investment in modern solutions will notably benefit those in need for emergency services and it is committed to working together to develop interoperable communications and other information technology systems that provide for public safety.
Human Resources Group
The forward-thinking Human Resource Group (HRG) is devoted to providing effective policies, procedures, and people-friendly guidelines and support within the organization. Additionally, the HRG serves to make sure that the company mission, vision, values or guiding principles, the company metrics, and the factors that keep the company guided toward success are optimized. It also keeps track of changes in State and Federal Employment laws and applies them appropriately. These include tax regulations, health insurance requirements, overtime laws, unemployment restrictions, family and medical leave policies and safety regulations. The department works for the best interest of both the employees and the department; striving to create a safe workplace and handling employee disputes as required.
Public Relations Division
The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department Public Relations Division is responsible for public education on fire safety issues, and victim advocacy. Public Information Officers (PIOs) respond to all major emergency scenes. They act as an official source of information to the news media and assist displaced families/victims in receiving assistance from the American Red Cross and other governmental agencies. The PR Division also offers fire station tours and the public appearance of apparatus at Special Events.
To provide comprehensive and effective training to all paid and volunteer personnel based on State and National standards, information analysis, and the demands of the community.
